Condition Prior to the Project
TR Ministry of Health did not have a Family Medicine system. Family Medicine program took effect upon the law 5258 for Family Medicine pilot scheme being published on the official gazette on 24.11.2004 with number 25560, as one of the most important constituents of “e-Transformation Program in Health” and Family Medicine Information System development works commenced.
Solutions and Employed Technologies
Family Medicine Information System is implemented in two different ways pursuant to the legislation.
Smart client architecture is used in the local application. Since the system may operate both online and offline, physicians may record information on the system without internet connection without problems. Examination information can be transmitted to the center via internet connection, in the case that the persons change their family physicians all information is transmitted to the new physician from the center.
This user friendly system which can be easily used by physicians who are not computer literate is distinguished with its wide utilization possibilities.
World standard coding system such as ICD-10 is used for diagnosis, ATC codes are used for medicine, BUT codes are used for examinations.
One of the important features of the local application is the possibility of automatic update to all clients from the center when a new version is released. Microsoft BITS (Background Intelligent Transfer Service) technology is used for update.
